Today as I worked through my long list of things I had to do, I was distracted by various telephone calls from clients, sales people and even friends. Nothing new there really in the course of a normal working day, I hear you say, and you’d be right.
However, one of the calls I received in connection with a project I am working on made me think about peoples’ responses to situations. Some people spend some much time thinking about whether or not something will work, that they fail to do anything – their focus on failure not success.
Then some other people spend so much time planning and preparing that nothing gets done. There are also, and I’m sure you like me know a few people who just rush ahead into whatever it is they want to be doing. There are also, and I’m sure you like me know a few people who just rush ahead into whatever it is they want to be doing.
There are also those, and I’m sure you like me know a few people who just rush ahead into whatever it is they want to be doing.
Today I had a combination of the people who do too much thinking and pondering about whether or not one change in the plan would mean that the whole project should not go forward and others who can only see a fly in the ointment.
Yes, I know, there are times when this may well be necessary to note, but this one was not either and it made me think about two things, taking a deep breath and thinking rationally.
Taking a few minutes to think and to reflect on the new information before throwing in the towel, is probably a good recommendation sometimes. However being an action oriented person, I don’t believe in remaining stuck in the mud in my thinking or in my actions. I don’t believe in focusing on the negative, although I admit that all sides of the equation do need to be considered so that any decision that is made is an informed one, but living in the land of negativity is not where I ever want to stay.
So I came up with the thoughts below, which I hope you may find useful.
The only way to learn how to do anything, is to do it.
The only way to find out if something will work, is to try it.
And the only way to experience life, is to live it to the full.
Holding back and imagining that something will not work
is to waste even the energy of that thought.
The review it.
Change it or improve it.
Then, Do it again.
Action is everything.
Moving forward is the only way to discover
And to gain victory over whatever it is.
